Tried to make something less minimalistic this time Font is Gelly from Artwiz fontpack. It's a bit bigger than the usual pixel fonts.
Tool/taskbar is kind of big, but I really like it. There still a lot more working space than on many people's desktops that have taskbar+dock.
Everything except the window contents are in dark tones. I didn't and probably never will use a dark windows classic color scheme, because most of the apps are made with lighter scheme in mind. Am I the only one who has noticed this?
Details: Shell: blackbox (bbLean) OS: Windows XP. Windows theme: Windows Classic (colour scheme by ~BrushAway) - [link]
Wall: unknown author. Possible title "Freedom Ray".
BBStyle and -interface conf: by myself. BBLeanskin buttons: inspired by this: [link] (made buttons in same style, but smaller) - ~requestedRerun Xplorer2 toolbar skin: Tango BW, myself. The walls shown in xplorer2 are by ~requestedRerun - [link]
well, this setup was made with 1024x786 resolution in mind. I assume you have a higher resolution, so the bottom toolbar would look not wide enough. To make it wider, you would have to resize/align most of the parts of bbInterface.
Hey. I'll have a edit the style for use with default bblean setup. I'll get back to you in a day or 2? That's the reason I haven't really released any of my styles before - they're made with custom bbInterface config in mind.
nice. did you apply the font globally? i'm having big problems using .fon fonts as windows system fonts. someplace it works, but others it resizes the fonts which is ugly, or switches back to arial. also it seems some of the artwiz fonts are buggy, how about this one?
to answer your question, i noticed that i'm very sensitive to readability and always when i switch to a dark theme i switch back after a while because it strains my eyes/brain to get information out of what i see. mayb just a question of getting used to it. also most application graphics (buttons, logos) seem to be designed with or for a white/light bg. also my eyes hurt if the contrast between text and bg is too big, but i dislike white on black as much as black on white. for me personally a creamy background and dark grey (or dark and lightly colored) letters work best.
I used Displayset (an 3DCC alternative) for applying fonts. Can be downloaded here: [link] For Xplorer2 you'll need to change its font in its preferences.
Haven't had bugs with Artwiz fonts. I've noticed the problem with fonts resizing in some apps too. It's because sometimes apps have a predefined font (eg Arial), but size depends on your system style. Or vice versa - have a predefined size, but font depends on your system (resulting in text looking oversized).
Yeah application graphics designed for light background is the main reason why I use a light Windows Classic color scheme.
what's your resolution?

I added links to wall and font in the readme file, if you need them.
